Why
is education work important to us?
Working in education is important to us and we
enjoy the unpredictability of children's reactions to
live music making. Many have never been to a classical music concert
or heard some of the instruments in the Ensemble. The alto flute was something
they had never seen before and they were mesmerised by its sound, colour
and weight (and price!).
Ensemble Lumière's "Building an Audience for the Future"
project offers special programmes to music clubs, arts centres, festivals
& schools. The programmes interweave music and stories and introduce
a broad range of classical music to younger audiences. We are currently
exploring creative and educational links with Bob
Wilkins (Storyteller) for this and other projects.

"The afternoon workshop at St Joseph's Primary School was most
successful and provoked a delighted response from children and staff."
Cockermouth Times & Star
"The students found the workshop interesting and stimulating.
The advice you gave the students on contemporary techniques was very helpful
and valuable advice for the composers too. Thanks for a successful visit."
