Bob
Wilkins, Storyteller
Associate Artist, Ensemble Lumière
After a varied career (fitter's mate, security guard, insurance broker,
ditch digger, professional strong man, portrait sculptor, tinned food
salesman, casino bouncer, chef and many other things) great-grandfather
Bob became a storyteller...
A qualified teacher with primary, secondary and special needs experience,
Bob collects and tells stories all over the world. He has a wide commercial
and industrial background at all levels from minion to managing director.
His storytelling has taken him to the Far East, Hong Kong and China, telling
stories in schools, community clubs, zoos, temples and theatre workshops.
Bob's storytelling session "Folktales of the World"
(with audience participation) introduces folktales from India, Russia,
Africa, China, Japan, Britain, Greece, Germany, France, Malaysia, Australia,
Indonesia, the USA and elsewhere. His workshop activities include the
development of writing, storytelling, speaking and listening skills (use
of voice, gesture & expression).
Ensemble Lumière's "Building an Audience for the Future"
project offers special programmes to music clubs, arts centres, festivals
& schools. Our programmes interweave music and stories and are aimed
at introducing a broad range of classical music to younger audiences.
We are currently exploring creative and educational links with Bob Wilkins
for this and other projects.
